When I took a journey to Brisbane in Australia I was eager on my return to tell people of my exciting trip. Then I bumped into an old school friend who just as it happens was looking out for me.
She had seen the web site with some of my old photos on and wanted to show me one of her that I had taken many years ago which I had completely forgotten about.
Whilst we were talking I mentioned Australia and Anna asked which part I had been to. Brisbane, and she said that's a coincidence, I lived there during my childhood.
So I was in for a surprise when Anna bumped into me again a few months on and said she had something else of interest. Her mother who was visiting had decided to bring along Anna's old school belongings.
Looking through her old note books she came across one belonging to someone else and wondered if I might know who the stranger might be. I said to Anna, now here's another coincidence, I actually know of this person but that's not all.
When I wrote the Queensland Story on the web site an old class mate e-mailed saying, how if I had known he lived not far from Brisbane I could have paid him a visit. Well it just turns out his wife is the original owner of the missing note book.
Earlier in my search for web site material, I had been loaned an old junior school photograph and who should be amongst the familiar faces but Pamela, owner of the lost note book.
Then a few weeks later a Malmesbury person stops me in the street to inform me of some sad news concerning the family of my friend in Brisbane.
It turns out one of my parents and one of theirs were very good friends, and for many years they were both members of the local Athelstan Players. Now reunited with other old friends, they are all performing on the greater stage that is the one above us all.
Is there anyone else out there with a strange coincidence about to make the distance from Malmesbury to Brisbane seem like a walk around the corner in this small world?
